What is the working principle of the IV tester

BIV tester, also known as photovoltaic IV tester, is a testing equipment specifically designed for the solar energy industry. Its

working principle can be mainly divided into two key steps: current measurement and voltage measurement.

The working principle of the photovoltaic IV tester is mainly to evaluate the performance of solar cells by measuring their current and voltage characteristics. During the testing process, the solar cell is exposed to sunlight, which converts light energy into electrical energy and generates current through the cell. The tester will simultaneously measure current and voltage, and calculate parameters such as battery power and efficiency based on these data.

In terms of current measurement, the tester measures the current by connecting the battery circuit. A common method is to

use a current amplifier combined with a current measuring resistor to achieve this. The current amplifier amplifies the current

signal and sends it to the measuring resistor, and then calculates the current value by measuring the voltage on the resistor.

In terms of voltage measurement, the tester measures the voltage by connecting the positive and negative poles of the

battery. The tester uses a weak current to pass through a voltage amplifier and amplifies the voltage signal for measurement. To

ensure measurement accuracy, photovoltaic IV testers typically use high impedance amplifiers and analog tachometers.

Through the above two steps of measurement, the photovoltaic IV tester can obtain the IV curve of solar cells under different

lighting conditions. This IV curve can reflect the current and voltage characteristics of photovoltaic cells and can be used to

evaluate the performance and efficiency of the cells. At the same time, by measuring the voltage values at different currents, a

series of IV data can be obtained and plotted as IV curves. In addition, this test generally uses the fast scanning method.
